View Full Version : a new type of string raise angle??

I was playing a live 10/20 game last night and an interesting situation occurred. It was heads up on the the turn and the board was something like J 6 6 5, and the preflop and flop aggressor bet, and the button raised. The initial bettor then made an obvious string three-bet, and he seemed like and experienced enough casino player to know better. He then checked the river. And it seemed to me like he may have been trying to fake the raise (i.e. know that he could not make it) so that he could lower the possibility of facing a river bet with a marginal hand. When the hand showed down with no bets on the river and the "angler" showed 55 and lost to the button's 88, I couldn't help wonder if the move was intentional. So two questions, First has anyone seen this before? And secondly, Is this an angle? I can see a case for saying it is and for saying it isn't. Just wondering what others think.

Given what the 'anger' showed i find this to be pretty unlikely.

When a full house loses to 2 pair, that is definitely a house angle.

River may have been a 6, check through makes sense in that situation.

oops. I messed up... the board was J 6 6 4, and there it was 55 vs. 88. My bad.
