Marvelous choice!
Although i have never thought of amelie as a chick flick ( i hated 4 weddings)..
after this, any other suggestion is lame.

Pride and Prejudice (BBC, Andrew Davies version, 6 x 1 hour episodes). Makes for a long evening but very romantic.
Unfortunately no fully exposed boobs but some heaving bosoms.

Keeping the Faith is pretty good.

Someone already mentioned When Harry Met Sally, which pretty much set the standard for modern romantic comedies. Sleepless in Seattle is another good one.

Cheers,

I really enjoyed Love Actually.

Also, I watched Before Sunrise and Before Sunset this weekend with my GF. I enjoyed them a lot. A different kind of movie. The biggest problem I would say though, is that after watching them I felt like "Man, I wish I was THAT in love."

Amelie is the best chick flick I can remember seeing, plus you'll get bonus points for it being a foreign film. There's another movie from the same director that's actually pretty good too. It had all the same actors and the same kind of visual feel to it. I don't remember the name, though. The same guy put out another one this last year that looked decent too, but I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet. It's called "Un long dimanche de fiançailles" or "A Long Engagement". Has anyone seen this one?

Decent recommendations.

Before Sunrise/Sunset are pretty solid.

First chick I saw Before Sunrise with (in the theatre) said "they sure talked a lot." That 'relationship' lasted all of one date....and it wasn't quite as note-worthy as the before Sunrise date.

'Everytime we say Goodbye' from the mid-80's is an underrated little flick that not many people know about.
Happens to star some guy named tom Hanks.

note....it's not a Sleepless in Seattle/Youve got Mail piece of total crap....I can't even watch those movies because they're so retarded.

But Everytime we say Goodbye is actually a pretty good film...and the chick is really hot imo (actually....in very much an Alizee sort of way).
It's a world-war 2 period film.

Cool recommendation on Everytime We say Goodbye. That movie is very good, and you're right - that chick is hot.

it's called A Very Long Engagement. it has the amelie actress and is done by the same director. i'm not sure on how many other people from amelie are in it. i saw it in the theatre a couple months ago. i thought it was very very good. very entertaining and the movie itself was fantastic looking. i'd highly recommend it to anyone that doesn't mind subtitles.

City of Angels is a pretty good total chick flick by the way. bring tissues.

You really liked the subplot with that Co Boa chick?

In this vein, I think that Ninja Scroll would be a superior chick flick.

"Chasing Amy" hasnt been said yet. Thats a great Kevin Smith movie (guy who did Dogma and Mallrats) but without so many dick and fart jokes. I also liked "Love Actually" and "Mean Girls" was surprisingly pretty funny. Most of the other ones I can think of have already been said.

Ironic you say that. It's exactly what my ex said. All I know is I totally identified with the feelings of being in that small listening booth. Haven't seen the sequal. Maybe I should see what the new girl thinks.
