blackjack (regular, not tournament style) is now legal in oklahoma. everything seems to be just like it is in las vegas and tunica, except there is a .50 ante for any bets under $100 and $1 ante's for any bet over $100. is this common practice for any other casinos?

It is common in any indian casino that is trying to scalp the white man as quickly as possible. Run away, that little .50 a hand ante becomes a $40 an hour or more bankroll eater.

I've never heard of this before. Is it dead money that always goes to the house, or do you keep it if you win, with no payoff on the ante? If it's dead money, this gives the house another 10% edge on a $5 bet, and 5% on $10. Can't imagine being able to beat those odds.

Typically it's relatively dead money. At Canterbury in Minnesota there are a few hands that give you extra money which pays back the ante at least somewhat. A 777 and 678 pay 2:1 instead of 1:1 and a suited blackjack pays 2:1 instead of 3:2. Lastly, 3 blackjacks in a row pays $500 (hmm, I think) and 4 in a row pays something like $1000. Somehow I doubt this is enough to overcome the 50 cent ante.

i would never sit down for this crap.. its worse than 6:5 i would assume

however, try betting $99... it'll probably piss em off big time
