My roommate and I got into an argument over the movie, The Cable Guy (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0115798/) starring Jim Carey and Matthew Broderick.

My opinion is funny movie, but I may be a bit biased as I love pretty much anything Jim Carey makes. My roommate says terrible movie and that I must be crazy for thinking its funny.

Settle the argument.

That scene where Carrey is talking on the phone to Broderick and the spider runs up his face, actually over his eyeball,and Carrey doesn't even blink because he's so tuned into the conversation with Broderick is hilarious.

I think it's one of the funniest scenes in any movie, ever. It's just so subtle and brilliant.

Anyone have an explanation for the extreme split on this movie? People generally either think brilliant movie or worst movie ever. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Those swine have no appreciation of subtlety in films. They like toilet humor and they lack the sophistication of an A.C. Slater when it comes to hijinks that tickles ones funny bone. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It got a 5.5 on imdb. Which seems about right. Its watchable, but nothing special. Personally I rarely see comedies as I don't find them all that funny ussually. But I saw this on tv a bit ago. And I fell asleep while lying on the couch watching it.

This movie falls in the category of "first time stupid but gets funnier each time you watch it." other films that would qualify are joe dirt and napolean dynamite.

this is a common debate. a lot of people hate/love/like/meh this movie. ill admit it has its ups and downs, but i like it. actually i own the dvd.

joe dirt was kinda funny the first time. napoleon dynamite will never be funny.
