Hi, First a thank you for the pokerstars best player list. Now the question, You state that the top 5% of players at poker stars make one big bet per hour. My analysis for that site in the 10:20 game is only the 2nd standard deviation plus makes one big bet per hour in that game. This amounts to only the top 2.5%. I don't feel that I could be off by 100% and so I would like to know how strongly you believe about the 5% because I respect your opinion and will redo my analysis if you believe your figure to be the correct one.

I don't feel that strongly that all my group 3 are making 1 BB/hr. There several reasons for this.


1. The bad players are easy to spot, but the difference betweeen group 4, where everyone goes that doesn't make glaring mistakes after a few hours of ring game play, and group 3, except for the short-handed specialists which stand out, is very difficult with the limited information we get. It's hard to judge if someone is making good folds, if you never see them, for example.


2. A good amount of these players are mostly in the tournaments. The ones you see the most are at the first table that you are sat at. This means you could see them playing differently than they will the rest of the tournament and during live play.


3. The limited info makes it hard to be sure that the player plays better than a group 4 player and not a fair player getting great cards.


Just because Joe Sunshine, or anyone else, says something about poker don't be so sure you need to change your opinion. My ratings are very subjective.

I did not make my question clear in the first post. Do you think that 5% make 1 BB/hour or 2.5% make one BB per hour at pokerstars 10:20?

I would say more like 5%, but that is just a guess. With group 4's making something between 0-3/4 bets. That means the group 5's must lose about 2 BB/hr, brutal.
