View Full Version : If you're bored you can sweat me at a final table

It's just a 5+1 on party but it's still fun being at the final table. I mostly read this forum so thats why I posted it here instead of the multi. 1783 entrants down to ten now.

Mr Gordon or Mrs Gordon?

"It's just a 5+1 on party"

Don't think it matters. Making a final table out of 1783 players is pretty damn good.

man, just reading the dollar amounts is an exercise in futility. Would it kill them to add a comma every 3rd digit? /images/graemlins/mad.gif

AK spades. Should of pushed preflop.

And pretty lucky... the number of coinflips you have to win must be pretty high.

You still have 10x BB so you're doing ok so far... but the blinds are going up so the small stacks are going to be heading home. Sucks that you'll get hit with the increase though.

You're making $70 for each person that gets knocked out /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Don't get blinded out. I've watched 15 hands and you haven't played one yet. The real money's in the top 2-3 spots, and you're about to lose folding equity.

edit - now that you're UTG with 60K it may be a little late. good luck.

bigredlemon

yea... seems like everyone is showing monsters, and you've just blinded half your stack away

bigredlemon
02-13-2005, 05:16 PM
Exactly what I was going to say... everyone is pretty tight right now, so you still have a lot of folding equity.

won a coinflip and lands back in the 10xBB range

ya I'm still alive but it's gonna take a lot more luck to get any further... any suggestions?

bigredlemon

It won't take a LOT of luck... one double up and you're the new chipleader.

steal the blinds? Umm... You have 7x, so there isn't much room to maneuver.

In terms of the resulting chip stack, a 60% chance to double 130K is the same as an 80% shot at doubling 100K and a 100% chance to double 80K.

edit - oh yea, since people appear to be raising good hands and limping bad ones, coming over the top of a limper is a good play here. Nicely done.

$100 difference between 6th and 5th. Things don't get interesting until 3rd and up

Bummer of a last hand. wj had been aggressive, but when you call there you're behind any pair. Next time probably fold that one and try to build your stack as the aggressor.

Nice payday, congrats.

rule 1 of tourney poker... don't call off all your chips on a draw?

gutshot straight and flush draw looks pretty good, but you still had lots of fold equity here.

out in 6th. Had a great chance to double up and took it. Flush draw and inside straight. Didn't hit, $356 pay day. Thanks for the support guys.

I don't blame you for going all in though given the payout skew, but I'd rather take a stance elsewhere.

Pot was t60k, and you'll have to call 165k to win. Edit: you do have the pot odds to call, but I still don't like it, especially with another guy behind you who has yet to act.

The folding equity's key. People were folding to your pf raises, and each time you steal the blinds you add ~20% to your stack.

As it happens you were about even money. But how about against a better flush draw? (with or without a pair)

The flush draw was my first guess as to the SB's hand, with his actual holding being second. Even if we add 6x into his range of possibilities, you're significantly behind on average.

Try to get your chips in as the aggressor if you're going to get them in with a weakish hand like your 74 here. (Speaking of which, a preflop push here would've been a little aggro but not entirely out of the question.)

I definitely feel like I made the wrong decision here. My biggest mistake was acting too quickly, I think if I would have though about it for another 10-20 seconds I would have layed it down. It was my first time making it that far and I really learned a lot from it. I will never forget this mistake so I feel fortunate that I came away with a great lesson. I was also lucky that it was not for truly life changing money. I really appreciate you guys take on the situation and after I looked at all the variables it is an easy fold due to the table and my stack.

Thanks again, Jason
