as stated above you have to raise the flop. Put MP1 on your fish list.

a raise wasnt going to get any type of draw fold, so i waited till the turn where my raise has more value & equity. Maybe i need to review that section in ssh. Am I way off here?

mp1 was on a backdoor, a raise could have pushed him out. Yet he is a complete retard.
