I assumed someone had an 8, based on the flop that was my only read.

Probably either the co or the button holds an 8....maybe they both do. With that read that either one of them holds an 8. them 3betting knocked out MP2. which was nice.

If you know you are at a loose passive table, then I don't mind limping in because you know there will be a lot of limps after you. At an unknown table where an unknown number of people see the flop for an unknown number of bets, I wouldn't play it UTG.
