You didn't bet the flop because...

I would have bet the flop and called the raise on the river.

Welcome to the forums. What was your reasoning behind the river 3-bet? I definitely don't think it was a good bet, but I'm curious as to what you were thinking. After the c/r, I would definitely not have 3-bet. Depending on the opponent, I may have checked behind. And yeah, betting the flop was a no-brainer.

3-bet preflop, and you check the flop? You really need to protect your hand in this big pot and get some good value.

Looks like you may have dug your own grave here. TT in particular would've played at you this way thinking he had the best hand when nobody bet the flop. And if he's a LAG he could also be there with something like KT, JT or 9T in which case he obviously hit something to make him come alive like he did.

i didnt bet b/c there are 4 guys in the pot and im thinking that if i wait and bet the river then the read on me will be, "he didnt hit and he's just trying to buy outs" and that will get me more action. all this predicated on my belief that the set of quees are going to play. The real dumb part was betting on the river. i'm still bothered three days later.

i guess im just wondering how strong a hand should be to slow play. should i bet everytime im that far ahead? should i always bet for value? when is slowplaying correct?

If you never slowplayed top set, you wouldn't be far from playing them perfectly.

Not betting the flop is criminal, and doing so will make playing the rest of this hand much easier.

Slowplaying a set is usually only correct when the pot is small and there aren't many draws on the flop. Neither case applies here. You want to bet, raise and reraise for value and to charge all drawing hands the maximum price.

Slowplay when the pot is small and there is a chance of someone making a second best hand. All the draws to be made beat you. Bet the bejesus out of it.
