I was surprised to see no discussion of Harrah's WSOP double shootouts that are going on at all of the Harrahs.

I played in one of these today, and WOW, what an awful format.

15 minute blinds. Everyone started with 3000 chips. Starting blinds were 25/50. Sounds reasonable huh? Next we went to 50/100. Again, reasonable. Oh, here comes the pain. 3rd blind level was....200/400. WHAT? 200/400? What happened to 75/150, or 100/200, or 150/300? And the 4th blind structure was 400/800. So, 45 minutes into the single table tournament, the blinds were approximately 1/4 of the starting stack.

After the break, the blinds inexplicable took a break from going up madly, and went up to 500/1000. Weird. Then next was 1000/2000. Wonderful.

Anyone else surprised at the complete lack of decent structure for this? They could have simply added another 4 blind levels and the tourney last an extra hour (Instead of 1.5 hours). Would that have been such a crime?

...gotta love it, eh?

Seems as if more & more rooms are doing this.....

How's it feel to be made to feel as if you're a piece of red meat?

Caveat Emptor is the operative phrase, I believe.

It's ALWAYS all about the money.....

They're doing these at Harrah's or at the Horseshoe? I'm gonna be in Vegas next month sometime and might hit up some of the WSOP satellites if any are running.

What's the buy-in? Given what I understand about double-shootout formats, it's $100 plus an entry fee, right?

$220. First is the 10k + 2k travel and expense I think. Second and third also pay out some significant cash, because the total prize pool is $20k (100 people times 200$)
