600 Player MTT on Paradise
Pays $20 for 60-50, $2000 for 1st.

The tournament is in Hand for Hand mode with 61 players left.
The blinds are 3k, 1.5k, 150 ante

I have 9.5k and I'm in the BB. 6.5k left.

Folded to the SB who is the chip leader with 55,000.

He raises enough to cover me, but he would do this with any hand.

I have Ad, 5d.

Should I call against a random hand?

Thanks, Evan

If he would do this with any hand, and you have any hope of making some real money, you have to call, since your hand is way better than random.

If you want to just limp into 59th or 58th, then fold.

Shame on him for trying to bust you here. You should punish him by calling. It's very likely you're ahead anyway and he should be keeping you on life support and picking on the medium stacks. You're not likely to find a better spot.

I say move it here... To win you can't be afraid to lose

Thanks for the replies.

I called and he had Q7o.
I was 60/40 to win which is almost exactly what a random hand would be using Poker Stove. Although I lost this one, I feel that with 20,000 chips I would, on average, win more than $33.

(.6 * X) = 20 (60 % of the time I need to win X to return 20)
(.6 * X) /.6 = 20/.6
X = 33.33 (needed to break even)

Please let me know if I have mis-calculated.

You have barely enough chips to last one more spin around the block. There's ~12.5K in the pot. Here's your chance to triple up and try for the big bucks. Or muck and win a likely $20. Seems simple to me.

easiest call in the world.
