I would cap the flop and keep going. Too many turn cards can mess with my plans.

That was what I was originally thinking but I liked my play of check raising the turn better. I thought the button might have something like TT or JJ. Earlier in the session I saw him check a set of 5's twice in a raised pot. Well if he did have a set here then he 3-bets the turn and I make a crying call.
