Virginia government attempts to ban low-cut jeans... (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6939796/?GT1=6190)

What a fantastic waste of time. Seriously, people, what the hell are they thinking? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Why deny the people of Virginia the right to things like this?

OK...she's from Louisiana, and she may not be hot anymore, but the general look on a girl it works for is just freaking great.

Not to mention, no guy should wear pants low enough that their damn boxers are showing anyways, so that whole thing is stupid.

Actually, if you read the wording carefully you get fined for showing underwear.

So chicks could just go commando! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

So now chicks will wear no underwear.

I'm glad our lawmakers are keeping themselves busy.

Since she's not wearing any underwear, her underwear's not visible...so she's not breaking the law...

What about large chicks with normal cut pants? Sometimes you can see their underwear !! /images/graemlins/blush.gif !! This law would amount to discrimination against fat people. Seriously.

This thread just reminded me of that great stand up bit Dennis Leary does on No Cure For Cancer. Anyone seen it? "Pull up your pants"!

I work for the House of Delegates in Virginia and it was the most ridiculous thing to hear the discussion on this issue.

First of all it was a Democrat who introduced the bill, and it was the most eclectic group of folks voting for/against that I've ever seen. There were no party lines, just 34 people who thought it was dumb, and those 60 who thought it was a good idea. Luckily the Senate will be smart enough to kill this drivel.

a friend of mine who happens to be black will not wear his pants low like most young people do now (myself included). he says the reason people started doing that was because dudes in jail would be issued pants that were too big, and thus they would always hang low. somehow that became fashionable and a trend was born. i don't know if there's any truth to it, but that's his rationale and maybe others' too.

For good luck Michael Jordan wore his UNC shorts under his Bulls uniform. His shorts needed to be a little biger because of this. As they increased in size, everyone followed the trend.

both of you are wrong.

the origin of this ridiculous style of wearing ones pants dates all the way back to slavery. slave owners purpously outfitted their slaves with extremely loose fitting pants so they could not easily run away. years later in american prisons, black prisoners began to wear their pants this way as a means to "protest" for lack of a better term, their status as prisoners, which they equated with slavery.

later, the fad was adopted specifically by gay prisoners, black or white. if one wore his pants low, he was commonly known to be "available" for anal sex.

cheers!

This is because of my response to your Numb-Encore thread right?

If this topic was posted in OOT before I did it, please show me where...

This thread needed a picture of the burning pile of cow [censored] though. Always good for a chuckle.
