The manual says that 16x12 is the optimal resolution. Does this mean that running it at a lower resolution will harm the monitor? I like to have my poker window a bit larger when I'm only single-tabling (eg in tourneys).

It will not harm the monitor, but the picture may not look as good.

It won't harm it, I think CRT's can be damaged by running in non-optimal modes though.

To me, the picture looks fine, just bigger and not at the maximum resolution. I gradually stepped up from my old 1024 resolution to the new, MUCH LARGER, 1600 resolution. It works fine at each level, but is very nice at max! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the quick reply. Mine looks a little less sharp on 1280x1024 but still pretty clear.

The reason why 16x12 is the recommended res is because it is the "native resolution". That means that the screen physically has 1600x1200 pixels. Running it at less than that means it will be using multiple physical pixels to display your onscreen pixels. So for a 1-pixel dot, it may use 5 real pixels in a + formation (i don't know the actual math)... that is why it's not as clear. Thats why its always recommended to run it at the native res, and I really don't see why you wouldn't, unless your eyes cant read text on screen or something.

exactly. although there are also settings you can use to make the text bigger, so there's really no reason to run it at a non-native resolution. and anyway, the whole reason to spend all the money on a 2100 is to get the 1600x1200... if you don't want that resolution, buy a different monitor.
