I'm reading in SSHE in the river quiz hands. It's talking about how if you have 7.5 to 1 odds and you're heads up and your opponent bets into you, you only have to win 12% of the time to show a profit.

I'm not getting this at all. Can someone help?

so the pot going into the river is 6.5 bets. your opponent bets. that puts 7.5 bets in the pot, and you have to call 1. you are getting 7.5 to 1 pot odds that your hand is good, so if your hand wins 1 out of every 8.5 times, then your river call is breakeven. (think about why that is, I'm sure you already know though).

since 1/8.5 = 11.7%, winning more than that (12% of the time) leads to a profit.
