Playing in a weekly bar tournament. $10+5 buy-in, only first gets paid unless second wants to split (very likely). 33 people in means $330 to the winner.

It's down to 5-handed. Blinds are 800/1600 and go up to 1600/3200 next hand (yea, dumbass structure)
112,000 chips on the table.
Stacks are estimated at:

SB (10,000)
BB (40,000)
UTG (18,000)
HERO (21,000)
CO (4,000)
BUTTON (25,000)

The whole table is a bunch of loose gamblers, but play has tightened up somewhat with the increase of the blinds.
Hero is in MP with A/images/graemlins/heart.gif, J/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
SB posts (800), BB posts (1600), UTG calls (1600), Hero raises (6600), CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds, UTG calls (5000).

Pot (15600)
Flop: K/images/graemlins/heart.gif A/images/graemlins/spade.gif 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif
UTG bets (2000), Hero calls (2000).

Pot (19600)
Turn: 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif
UTG goes all-in (9100), Hero calls (9100).

Pot (37800)
River: 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Any ace was possible with UTG. I called thinking he held one and was trying to bully me off a split, or had a high pp like 10s-Qs and was trying to bluff me out.

As a side note, I hope that buyin either comes with free drinks or something or is supposed to be .5 - a 50% tournament fee?

And, incidently, it's rather difficult to critique your play without knowing what your hand was.

rofl.. yea that would help wouldn't it? I'll edit but it was A/images/graemlins/heart.gif J/images/graemlins/heart.gif

The extra $5 is to pay the dealers. If the game weren't so juicy I'd complain about it.

I'd have pushed back postflop, but then in this case that would have just gotten me in more trouble. Did he have the 8, pocket Ks, or what?

I'll wait for a few more replies before I post results. I want to hear some more unbiased opinions. I do agree, raising on the flop would have let me known where I stand, but it still would've been a tough laydown that I don't think I could've made.

looks like UTG had about 10K on the flop. I think you have to push over his flop bet. 5 handed in a looseish game you can only worry about 8s, K8 or A8 here. your hand is good against anything else that gets played like that preflop. it's a push no question.

Well I thought I'd get a few more replies, but anyways. He had A/images/graemlins/club.gif, 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif for the turned boat. I called him almost instantaneously when he said all-in and he got this sour look on his face. I suppose he thought I was the one with Aces, or Kings. His face actually made me feel better, until I saw his cards and was drawing to one out.
