I haven't read it yet, but I've read a bunch of other stuff by Kurzweil (Age of Spiritual Machines). This is not fuddy duddy stuff. His theories are incredibly informed and completly based on rational thinking.

while i dont disagree that god is a whore, i dont see that as being a corollary of you not being able to live forever.

Technically, you do live forever. Time is a subjective perception that is defined only by our senses. Time, for you , never ends because as soon as you die, your subjective sensory perceptions are no longer around to tell you that they arent. Your not really afraid of dying, your afraid of the *process* of dying, the moments right before you do us a favor and check out. Just get drunk and hire a couple of prostitutes. Then, you can die like you lived: f[/i]ucking around.
