I just got JJ 4 hands in a row on Party, what are the odds of getting the same PP 4 times in a row on the same table??

Well... it's 220 to 1 to get any specific pocket pair. So maybe 220(4) to 1.

so I think it is (16:1)*(220:1)*(220:1)*(220:1)... so... 1 in 170 million?

How many hold em hands have been dealt throughout the history of time? Surely more than 3 billion, it had to happen to someone, sometime, to get dealt JJ 4 times in row, right?

not JJ specifically, any PP, so thats why the first term is 51:3
Anyway, that is still statistically ridiculous, do I get a prize for that?

You'll get a pocket pair 16 to 1. A specified one is always 220 to 1.

Why does it sound like you are complaining about getting a premium hand dealt to you 4 times in a row? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

cause I only broke even /images/graemlins/smile.gif ... picked up 3 or 4 bucks the first 3 times and lost about 10 when my JJ overpair lost to a KK overpair /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bah, this is why I hate the x:y notation!
You have a 1/17 chance of getting a pocket pair, then a 1/221 chance you get it again, and a 1/221 you get it again, and a 1/221 chance you get it again. So it is 1/(17*221*221*221) or (17*221*221*221-1):1. It comes down to what jason_t said:

edit:
Not that it actually bothers me that people use the x:y notation, but you need to convert to y/(x+y) to see things happening multiple times. So if you are a 3:1 underdog, you aren't 9:1 to hit twice in a row, you're 15:1.

Yeah, you get a prize: JJ four times in a row.

Maybe instead of saying that Party Poker is rigged, you should be asking for advice on JJ situations in one of the hold 'em forums.
