I see that it has composite inputs, is the RCA input that I use to connect my xbox to my tv? Can I therefor connect the xbox to a 2001fp? If so, does anyone have any experience with this? xbox or ps2, how is the quality?

Yes you can connect your xbox. If you are picky like me, then you will go with a tuner box that accepts real composite. Also, if you are going to be Xboxing on it, get the sound bar.

Hmm - I have a 2001FP (Second one incoming /images/graemlins/grin.gif), and an Xbox. What is the quality like on the monitor vs. a regular TV? I'll have to try it this weekend if you say it's an improvement.

What's the soundbar?

The sound bar is here:

The quality is good compared to a TV, but it's still only as good as your input. As standard RCA is like 220 lines or something, and component (what I meant to say) is better.

If you were real picky wouldn't you get one of these (http://www.x2vga.com/), so you could play games in 480p/720p/1080i? Seems like a shame to hook a relatively crappy composite output up to a nice highres display like the 2001FP.

I've got an HDTV with a 720p native resolution and games look best with the HD-output pack, with s-video looking worse, and composite looking worst of all.

Or did you mean component instead of composite? You already posted correcting this, but the link still be might useful, so I'll leave it.

Yes I meant component using the HD-Pack, which I have and love.

I have a PS2 and the composite is usable, but Svideo is much better. Once GT4 comes out, I'll look into these HD options people mention.

If your TV supports s-video it'd be horrible to stick with composite. Almost everyone can clearly see the picture improvement going from composite up to s-video. On the PS2 moving up to the component cables is a relatively smaller improvement. Nice if your TV supports 480p (the max PS2 does), but not 100% necessary.

Xbox supports 720p and 1080i (though not all games do), so there's more visual incentive to take advantage of it.
