I've been pretty happy with my success in SNGs lately (last two months or so). However, I've started feeling very reluctant to get involved in hands early in a tourney (first two rounds). Generally, I just get the feeling that the downside of losing early far outweighs the upside of building a good stack early. As a result I've been folding a bunch of hands (pairs, AQ) to raises and I'm wondering if this is a leak.

Here are a few hands I played recently, am wondering if others would be more aggressive here.

A little hard to tell from the hand history, but what happened here was I was in the BB already for T15, then it was raised to T30, and then raised to T45. Normally, I would call T45 (extra T30) with a pocket pair, but given that it had been re-raised (T15 re-raise, you idiot!) I was worried that the original raiser (still to act behind me) would re-raise again and then I'd have to fold. Side question, if you call the T45, do you call the T80 on the flop with the OESD? I probably don't.

Simple enough here, I didn't want to call an 6XBB raise with a hand that's only going to hit 1/3 of the time on the flop. What do others do here?

My favorite weak-tight play of the day. Monochrome flop and UTG bets out post flop. The bet is so weak though, it was hard not to at least try to raise and see what they did. I just haven't seen enough players bluff UTG at a monochrome flop at this level (30SNG) to make me think keeping them honest is worth 1/4 of my stack. Looking at it now, I'd say a four flush was their most likely holding, so maybe call and bet a non-diamond turn is best. Other thoughts? If this is checked to me, I bet pot and fear a smooth call.

Hand #1: I sometimes call here for the extra 30, and sometimes don't. Have you seen these sorts of weak raises from UTG before? If so, you're probably paying 30 for set potential. After the flop I fold to this sort of bet.

Hand #2: Foldy foldy.

Hand #3: I like raising significantly more here. Since you didn't, this hand is fairly easy to get away from (you still have a healthy stack) and I would generally do so here (minus reads). This could very well be a spot to go over the top allin since your opponent generally won't have the made flush here. Smooth calling and then jamming chips in if a blank hits on the turn is quite viable as well. Generally with a bigger preflop raise, the pot will be large enough with two callers in relation to your stack for you to jam all of your chips in here (I think you have to have an edge here -- it's jut a matter of the correct risk/reward ratio).
