So I used to play a whole bunch of NLHE SNGs a while back. I did ok.

But I'm new to the MTT thing.

This is a party 20+2 NLHE tourney that started with 1630 people. There are 17 left.

The BB has gone all-in 2 or 3 time when I tried to steal his blind (we have been at this table a while) or take a flop. Not that I'm stealing very often actually. We have probably only had this situation 3 time during the whole tourney. So he's batting .750 or 1.000

Against this type of opponent is it best not to screw with some who might go crazy with A4o or similar hands.

I figured I had to take a stab because my hand is decent against a random hand....but I don't know.

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.

Folds around to the me in the SB.
I make it 20k to go.

SB goes all in. I call.

Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif8 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif is only 56:44 favorite vs. a random hand. If you had a stronger hand to race with then raising and calling the villains expected all-in would be a good play. However, you don't want to race with something as weak as Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif8 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif so if you know you'll call the all-in just push to start with. This way you maximize your folding equity.

If you were willing to call his all in push, if he went for a resteal, then you should have pushed 1st. Q 8 is not a hand I want to be calling an all in with for all my chips when I still have 9 BB but it is a decent hand to steal with in this spot.

Thanks for the response.

I think you guys are right. After thinking about this I figured I was probably asking for more action than I wanted.

Turns out the guy had AJ and a preflop all in may (probably not) have gotten him to fold.
