As soon as they start ripping you off and charging you an arm and a leg for a crappy product like Microsoft. Or how about when google becomes annoying as hell because they turned into a banner farm.

Until then, GOOGLE ROCKS!!!!!!!

They already have that. It's called an Image Search.

Yes but google will make it so that every picture is named correctly, none of the movies are parsed up, and there will be no barrage of popups like there were when I used IE and Netscape after you close down. Plus, they will only have hot chicks, and none of those low rent whores that show up half of the time on other sites.

Yes, it does. What I find kind of shocking is that I started the cyborg eyeball thread before I started the Google Maps thread and this thread has 200 views while the cyborg thread only has 20+. From this, we can safely say google is better than cyborg eyeballs. But the real question is, is google better than puppies?

They're already Microsoft.

Their only revenue (90% or so) comes from a stolen business model (Adwords, which they "borrowed" from Overture).

They already are the man.

Do you have any links? Couldn't find anything with Yahoo. Even if it's true, Google still doesn't come close Microsoft. They aren't even in the same league really.

I think A9's Yellow Pages map is a lot cooler than this.

I meant only in the sense that they're profiting solely from the ideas of others. Their business model was, they didn't have a business model, until they "discovered" pay per click search (all those little text ads you see). Now they're a media darling. It's just kind of lame.

Yeah - A9 will probably take over. Or MSN search - In a year or so.

Microsoft is 30 times larger than google yet google has more Ph.D.'s. I doubt MSN is going to take over anytime soon. A9 is pretty cool and I will have to check it out more. But I would not underestimate the people at google. As long as their CEO's don't screw everything up I don't see how they won't stay on top quality wise.

So they didn't actualy "steal" anything? How is that underhanded?

And you comparing them to Microsoft? A company that has an illegal monopoly and charges people an arm and a leg for a crappy product? A company that is known for:

# Bloat code
# Backward incompatibility
# Perpetual upgrading (another way to suck out money)
# Vaporware
# Predatory practices
# Bundling of inferior products
# Bugs, bugs, and more bugs
# Insecurity
# Closed "standards"
# Mutilation of existing standards
# Lack of innovation
# Hostile treatment of customers via anti-counterfit measures

Ugh, just do a google search. There is plenty more.

Not underhanded, just unimaginative.

Meh, Microsoft bashing is so passe. Sort of like Google ass kissing.
