View Full Version : Need Good Links To Information About Dental Options

I'm 50 years old and haven't had many problems with my teeth but am now faced with some problems and choices regarding treatment. I'm relatively ignorant about dental procedures (crowns, bridges, root canals etc) and want to do some web research so I'm not too uninformed when I discuss options with my new dentist.

Here are examples of what I need to study up on:

Should I go for a crown or settle for more extensive fillings on a couple of my back molars?

Should I try to save or replace a somewhat loose tooth (tooth number 28, a lower first bicuspid) in a crowded area of my lower jaw? If it can't be saved, should I go for a bone graft after the tooth is removed, a bridge, or an implant?

What are typical costs (even with insurance)?

I already went to a new dentist on my plan and discussed some alternatives and made a few choices but now I have second thoughts after talking to a friend. Before I commit I'd like to do some online research.

I found this site called "Animated Teeth" (http://www.animated-teeth.com/index.htm). It seems pretty good but seems to focus on Cosmetic Dentistry.

Anyone know of other good links? All help appreciated.

Regards,

Rick
