Guidelines for posting on OOT.

There have been lots of complaints about the low standard of OOT, so I was hoping we could come up with some guidelines to help improve the forum.

A few I can think of off the top of my head are:

i) If you read a thread and think, "I have something interesting to say about this topic" , do it in that thread, rather than starting your own thread. Don't clog up the forum!

ii) Try and make your "subject" line as clear as possible. This way users can read what they are interested in, and avoid what is of no interest to them.

iii) Please please please use the search function. There are too many threads started about the same topic. This is another reason for making your "subject" line as clear as possible - it will help people search more efficiently, and thus prevent the board clogging up.

iv) Cut down on the "funny" threads. Most of them are nowhere near as funny as you think. If you want to show off your brilliant wit, try and do it within the confines of an existing thread, this is much more subtle and likely to get a laugh than starting a thread and saying "hey, look at me, I am so funny!".

v) Any post that is intended for one user only is probably better served as a private message.
