My play has deteriorated to new levels. Help me out of this hole.

MP1 is a maniac. Everyone else is loose/passive. I was going to raise the turn on a safe card, but no safe card came, so I didn't know what to do.

Lead the flop. MP1 is a maniac, so he will likely raise. That forces everyone but UTG+1 to face two, and protects your hand. Then you can 3-bet or wait for a turn c/r depending on the number of callers.

Definitely something more than what you did must be done on the flop. But then you probably know that /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just bet or check-raise the flop. You are holding two pair, not an ultra-vulnerable one pair hand. Waiting til the turn just puts you in bad positions like the one you ended up in.

Bet the flop. I think everything plays differently then.

I agree. Given your position relative to this maniac you should bet hoping he raises. You have to do something to protect your hand, since it is vulnerable to straight draws and you stand a good chance of this plan facing most of the field with 2 cold.
