First hand of the tourney, so I have no reads, but I have the strong feeling that villain does not want any callers PF. So, I challenge him on the flop, despite the queen, and he backs off. I'm wondering if a PF reraise would have been better, though.

I don't play 50+5's and above, so I might sound dumb but I don't like the preflop raise with JJ in early position. I limp in there and possibly call a raise. You were lucky he had AK, but he could've had AA, KK, or QQ, and you would've been crippled all because you raised out of position with JJ.

I'd rather raise and get rid of QT, KQ, Ax, etc. The upside from this is far greater than the loss you'll take in the rare event that someone has an overpair.

P.S. I know, I know -- it doesn't seem so rare when *I* get dealt JJ. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
