Can someone explain to me the rational in coming in to a game with the minimum by in? I see it on-line all the time and I watch these maroons go all in when they have a great hand and only get 1/3 of the pot. What's the point?

Thanks

It's the only time you get something for coming in second in poker.

repost:

however, i know of a couple of players that make a decent living "cherry-picking"

they buy-in with the minimum, try to double through, then quit.

while i detest this when i see it, it is a fact of life in online poker. these cherrypickers are sometimes MUCH smarter than they appear.. meaning that they troll the lobby looking for action games that have 40% or more players seeing the flop.

the small buy-in allows them to protect themselves from the maniacs at the tables they seek, and it also presents that "weak image" that they are quite happy with...

i have seen them ruin great games on more than one occasion.. their tight-ass styles, and low buy-ins will kill an action game every time.. i usually make a sport out of busting them as soon as they show their puny heads..

death to the cherry-pickers!!
