Sponger was banned for 30 minutes or so a day or two ago. Matty said that in addition to his posts which were meant to be interpreted as racist statements and encourage racist thinking, his avatar was posted without the permission of its subject and it was unlikely that she wanted it anywhere near these forums.

I think this amounts to favorable treatment. I'm sure that lots of us disagree with a lot of crap posted on here and with some avatars but we don't go running to Mat when we disagree with something. We either put the person on ignore or just learn to deal with it.

This shows a real lack of maturity on Jennicide's part.

There is a difference between material that you disagree with and material which can easily be construed as personal insults or attacks. Personal attacks are pretty explicitly not allowed in the forums, as far as I know. The pictures of Jennicide she clearly doesn't want on the internet in any form, and has previously threatened legal action against anyone who continues to post said material. (I don't care, or want to get into a debate about whether said legal action would have any shot at success.)

So yeah, basically, have some respect for other people. You can't use racist slurs, you aren't supposed to give out people's personal information and ask others to please sign them up for as much spam and junk mail as possible, and you basically can't post pictures of other users of the forums (or other people, probably) that have specifically asked for those pictures not to be posted, just to be mean.

If there was any, oh, I don't know, value, to posting the pictures, or any other expected outcome besides that dozens of nerds hiding behind their computers would talk about how "busted," "plain," or 'unattractive" someone is, then there might be an argument to be made here. But clearly, with one second of thinking about it, no other outcome is likely.

Moreover, If jennicide was actually 17 at the time of the pictures (which she has claimed) then she could attempt to get the law involved in teh matter, since some judges could be convinced that her pictures were child pornography. 2+2 in general did not want that, and I doubt if complaining about Spongers avatar was even necessary for mat to kill it. If he was aware that Jennicide had threatened legal action against other parties distributing the picture, it's not worth the hassle just to let Sponger have a topless plain-looking girl for his avatar.
