Here is an option for storing the Plaques and Octagons.
I was able to place 20 Plaques and 40 Octagons in the card
spaces of this aluminum 300ct case. Plenty of space to close
the lid and the foam in the lid holds them snug. And I know
you all have Kem or Copag cards with boxes anyway so these
slots should be empty /images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can also lay Plaques flat 6 or 7 high and Octagons will fit sideways in the chips rows also.

Already regretting not getting more. Sigh. What amazes me is that I probably have close to 1000 random casino/fantasy/sample chips on my desk all stacked up and all I have to play with are some clay composite chips w/ metal slugs in them. Hopefully I can come up with a great design and set up one of these group buys as well in the near future.

So far, all I've done is unpack the chips. One little thing thatg somewhat surprised me, though, is the plaque. It seems to me that the back of the plaque is upside-down. Of course, you can't see both sides at once, but when you turn the plaque over it just seems upside-down.

Got my 74 chip sample set in NY today. Very nice chips. I noticed that the 3 different shape of chips - round, octagonal, rectangular all had different textures. I love the texture on the $1000. Is that considered a "linen" finish? I have some regular 40mm casino chips w/ that finish. Is it possible to pick finishes when ordering regular 40mm chips?

You say it says Poker Oasis, but I'm not sure about that because the symbol for "E" seems to be the same symbol for "I".

You'll find that different Egyptologists (and websites) will disagere on certain sounds that heiroglyphics are meant to represent. In particular, the "R" and "L" sounds are interchanged frequently, as well as the "E" sound (as in "dead") and the "I" sound (as in "did").

I have a tattoo that says "Greg" in heiroglyphics. I could show different experts, and some would say it says "Grig" or "Gleg" or even "Glig." /images/graemlins/smile.gif If you listen to people with different nationalities say my name, you can actually hear it said in all those ways (and more), so it's not really that far fetched.

Also, when you plug in words in those online translators, rememeber to keep it all phonetic. "Poker" will not have that E in it, it'll just be POKR.

By the way, I'm no Egyptian history expert, but I was thinking about the $25,000 anniversary plaque. What could rank higher than Tut himself? I was thinking Ra, but you've already used orange & yellow. In fact, you are probably limited to pink and gray. How'd Cleopatra fit into the whole thing? Also, maybe a gray Nile river scene?

I took 10 $1 chips up to my office to play with while on the phone, of the 10 there are 4 chips with a very noticable sharp ridge on the side. I got my Egyptians yesterday. Packaging was 1st class. Much better than the order I got from that place that sells the Martini chips. The $.25 chips are great. Nice dark blue and edgespot theme that matches the original set. They are simple and elegant. No mistaking them for an diff denomination because of color similarities in bad garage light, etc. The octogons and plaques are just beautiful. The plaques make a different chip sound when drop stacked like an acordian. Very nice. What I don't like about the oct. and the plaques is the edge spot. The white on them is totally weak IMO. I'm aware of the previous reasons why they couldnt be all purple and orange on the edges. I think it's BS. If the company is going to let us have them, then they should have let us get it right, all the way right. I still love them and I usually don't complain about much, but I wanted to add that critique. THey would have been totally the bomb with solid purple edges and the octogons too. I also must have missed the post about the octogons having a silk like texture. I really dont like that.
MSPatton runs a great web site and I will be buying from him in the future. Very professional from start to finish.
Can't wait for the game friday to wow the guys!

I didn't remember the texture being mentioned either. The slick plaques aren't bad and it makes for a sharp graphic... I'd have to see some with a diff texture to decide which I like better. They are still the best octagons & plaques I've ever seen /images/graemlins/cool.gif!

Re: the plaque... Yeah, my Mom mentioned that too, I didn't notice it (starstruck maybe?). I asked and Chipco said that it's the way the plaques are placed in the machine. Other plaques are printed on the horizontal (like a dollar bill), which is how they're printed even when it's a vertical print.

No biggy to me, like you said, you can't see both sides at once...

seems like a goof on Chipcos part. they could have just flipped the back picture in their computer and printed away and that could have solved the problem. i think it defeats the whole purpose of putting the back of Tut altogether.

nonetheless, great chips!

Mine finally came in and I agree that the orientation of the plaque ought to be easily fixable. Its pretty clear (to me, anyway) that the back ought to be oriented such that, while looking at the front with the mask properly oriented, a sideways rotation should result in the corresponding view of the back (as opposed to the upside-down view you get currently).

This is somewhat disappointing-- is there any chance of this getting fixed? I'd be willing to pay the shipping if I could exchange the ones I got for reprinted ones with the correction.

Other than that, the new additions look fantastic!

I must add that shuffling the plaques is way cool.

Yup.

But regular poker chips feel impossibly small afterward.

Sorry, didn't see this before I sent the last email. I would have been interested in the Borg trip, but couldn't have gone anyway.

I'm glad I'll get to see all of the chips.

Ended up not going Saturday after all, but I'm planning to go this Saturday. I'll be headed past your place at about 8 or 9 AM according to my current plan, if you are interested. I'm going down solo, but 2-3 other guys might be down in the evening.

I'm busy in the morning and evening on Saturday. Thanks anyway.

Can't remember if we discussed this at the tourney this week or not, so....

I got to see Bulldog's chips this week. The artwork on all of the Egyptian chips is as nice as the illustrations, though some of the detail is "lost" visually due to the size. We don't have Ten's blown up graphics to appreciate!

I am bugged a little by the flipped image on the back of the plaque, but it's not a big problem

What I really didn't like, personally, was the difference in sound between the round chips and the octagon/plaques- especially the plaques.
They sounded 'tinny' if that is possible for ceramic chips. The round chips have a certain plastic clank that I could easily distinguish from the funkier chips. The plaque was noticeably different than the lower-denom round chips; the octagons were only somewhat so. If I had a complete set, I think it would bother me... but how often would you use the $5K plaques?

I was also surprised by the weight of the chips. They are a little thinner than my clay chips, or it looked that way at least. I don't know why I was thinking they'd be heavier- didn't think it through I guess. I also thought they'd be a little wider in diameter for some reason- don't ask me why.

Still, they are nice chips. I might have changed my mind about going with ceramic chips if I ever do a custom set, however- call me old school :P

I don't think that chipcos are actually thinner than a clay, they just look that way because of the rolling edge that's applied to the outside. it's sort of rounded and thinner than the chip so it's some sort of illusion. I guess you'd have to stack 20 next to each other to find out.

i've bought a buttload of samples this last month. chipcos are the same size as most clays. i've stacked em, shuffled em, and so forth, and i can attest to the size being the same.

Perception has a lot to do with it. My calipers say they're exactly the same size and weight as most clays.

Ceramics feel balanced, cold, smooth, and a have "ring" that clays don't. All this goes a long way towards making them feel like they're different.

Egyptian set review:Actual Use.
I used the 25 to 5000 cheques for the tournament. The guys really loved those plaques, renamed "Plates" in our game. They really didnt like giving them up to make change or to bet with. It added an element to the game that was interesting. The octogons got lots of good comments also. It was worth getting the plaques and octo's. No one noticed the lack of edge color on either denom. I stand corrected. "bad ass" was the phrase I heard more than once about the plaques.

As for the blue ank .25's. The guys really loved them too. I think its the color. We used all 200 for the cash game and people wouldnt bet with them. Nice stacks all around.
Good work once again Ten.

PS, the only bad thing is that I need more 100's, 500's to make up for the large denom 5000's. Had trouble making change, etc. Mo money, Mo money!

They are called "bricks" by my group, and all like them. I love the chips and I like the sound and the feel. They've just discovered NL cash games, so I'm going to have to use my reorder for .25s, 1s, and 5s. For an up-to-ten-player cash game with $0.25/$0.50 blinds, how about:

75 quarters
250 1s
75 5s
