What is the significance of the firearm on the cover of some of the Two + Two Hold'Em books?

I always took it to mean:
"A Smith & Wesson beats 4 Aces."

It's Mason's favorite Beatles album.

By the way, David buried Paul.

Its because poker was played in the old wild west, where if you cheated you were likely to get shot.

I like to imagine the scenario whereby the hand on the cover of HEFAP is played out.

I can tell, the guy with As Ks pulls the gun.

I know a revolver beats 8's and Ace's! Just ask Wild Bill.

Sorry, I've been watching too much Deadwood.

It certainly wasn't meant for a poker player to do this. (http://www.big-boys.com/articles/pokerroom1.html) This guy needs to get off-line and get out of the house more.

I assume it is because when Texas Holdem was first played, high stakes poker players in Texas carried revolvers.

The revolver denotes a "showdown" when all the cards are out.

Some relevance to why one position is called 'Under The Gun'?

I think you meant to say "boobs" not "guns" in the above statement.

The game is being played in the back of a strip club, where the guy with the 83 has just attempted a string raise. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
