So I'm sitting on my arse in my dorm apartments minding my own business with poker/2+2/tv/midget-porn/etc, when our stupid fire alarm goes off. I'm gonna pretend I don't hear the freakin annoying beep.

what do you lose if it's a drill? what do you lose if it's a real fire?

you should be able to do some simple math and come away with the answer here.

We've had so many this year, but the only real ones have been in other buildings. I typically won't go outside, unless I think people will start coming around knocking. They certainly won't believe "I didn't know what was going on." /images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you can jump out the window without getting seriously injured when there really is a fire, I think the answer is a definite yes. 99% of the time in the situation you describe, it's a fake.

While I lived in the dorms at college I had 4 SNGs up and running and the fire alarm went off. 10 min later I come back and was blinded off in 2 of them. Not fun.
