Did anyone else get this email?

February 6th, 2005 - 12:00 NOON EST. There will be NO delays, NO disconnections, NO disruptions, NO server shifts, NO annoying DOWNTIME!

I am proud to announce our poker room now boasts increased capacity, access speeds, and virtually 100% availability, and we are guaranteeing it with $50,000 of our own money. If we are down more than 1.5 hours in any month, we will provide a $20+$2 tournament with $50,000 of our money added (limited to 1000 players), that will be held the first Sunday of the following month!

As you may or may not know, we did experience some downtime in January due to several upgrade were working on to improve the capacity, so this Superbowl Sunday at noon EST, the additional $50,000 cash we are adding to the 'Downtime' tournament is our way of saying thanks for sticking with us during the growing pains:)

Registration opens at 10:00am EST, SO DON'T BE LATE!

Best of luck and enjoy,

Personally, I think it's great!

A $30,000 overlay is to be laughed at?

Is "rediculous" some sort of internet slang that I don't know about? I find it hard to believe that so many people could spell it with an 'e' otherwise.

In any case, $50,000 in added prize money in a 1000 person tourney with only $20,000 in total buy-ins sounds like a great tournament to me...

I'll overlay you that $20+2 entry fee to bet that CS will go out of their way to make sure that they don't have to cough up the $50K at the end.

Meanwhile, people are sitting there all month with the new crap bonus structure for no good reason. And how about any money you lose in actual play due to one of the outages that people are secretly hoping for?

Just like a lot of the other promo downgrades at Peak Entertainment sites the past few months, sh*t just doesn't add up there anymore.

sunpoker made a press release this morning saying that because there was already downtime in January 2005, they will go ahead and put in the $50K guaranteed into the tourney on Sunday, February 6th at 12 noon EST (registration opens two hours beforehand).

so I guess you don't have to actually experience the downtime yourself in order to qualify for your share of the overlay. maybe the $20+2 is worth a one-off shot but it's still obviously not worth staying there as a regular player under the new bonus terms.

The same tourney is advertised in an email from William Hill. So, if you are a bit ticked off at Caribbean Sun, play through Will Hill instead.

I just noticed that CaribbeanSun raised the requirement to earn the $40 monthly bonus to a whopping 500 raked hands. It's hardly worth it now--save this Crypto skin for last.

Yeah, here was my response to the downtime email:

Nick,

I am not concerned about your downtime (or lack there of). However, based you changes to the monthly bonus structure I have no intention of playing your again site in the near future, and I will no longer recommend it to others, and I will probably discourage others from bothering with it. You were moderately competitive with the other Cryptologic sites for a while, but the casino bonus changes a few months ago undermined this, and because of this month's bonus change there's really no reason to play at your site now.

It takes a lot for me to give up whoring a site, but they did it.

Yup,

this is the first of my bonus whoring list that i've pulled out of....withdrew every cent yesterday....there is no +EV whoring there....I hope there is a massive efflux of funds in the next few weeks...

cheers

InterPoker is advertising the same "Downtime" tournament as a SuperBowl Tournament. Of course this is because the InterPoker site is never down.

Downtime Super Bowl XXXIX Tournament!!

InterPoker $50,000 Added DOWNTIME Tournament!

TouchDown! 4th Down! ShowDown! Hell of a Good LayDown! This Sunday is most definitely all about DOWNTIME so InterPoker will be hosting our very own Super Bowl Warm-up Event, and we will be adding $50,000 to the prize pool!

The tournament begins at midday EST (5pm GMT) on the 6th February.

Places are limited to the first 1000 people who register so register early to avoid disappointment.

Then sit back to watch the greatest sporting event of the year - Super Bowl XXXIX!!

The added tournament bonus would be nice i guess, I'm not really into toruneys, but the main point I was trying to make was that it seems like they are celebrating the fact that their system finally was working like it should.

This is the best of the cyrto skins. Now if I can figure out how to get my $3100 out of InterPoker without sending them (Papers.Papers Please) /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Bob,

InterPoker has the exact same tourney. I think all of the Crypto skins are involved.

Thank you,
