This is usually a muck for me preflop, but for some reason I called this.

Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (9 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 7/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
6 folds, Button raises, SB calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (6 SB) 6/images/graemlins/club.gif, 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif, J/images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, Button bets, SB folds, Hero raises, Button calls.

Turn: (5 BB) 5/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, Button calls.

River: (11 BB) A/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)

What's my line? Anyone like/dislike the flop raise? Anyone just call down after the turn raise?

fold preflop, check-call the river. rest is fine.

Fold preflop, but I think you got to bet that river.

It's funny because this specific hand, 97o or suited, is where I'm losing the most according to my PTDB. Now I basically don't play it until I can figure out how to play it best.

That being said I would fold this preflop 100% of the time to a button raise. After that everything else is cream cheese.

i think it is insane to fold this preflop.

I think you have to bet the river. Only one opponent left and you've been aggressive throughout, if he has no club there's at least some chance he will muck which is all you need with these odds.

If he has no club, then I have the best hand and I'd want him to call.

Why do you want him to fold on the river?

Fold pre flop. Bet the river and call a raise.

How about elaborating as to why not folding preflop is insane?

i was playing 20/40 at ameristar when i found an exception to clark's theorem (betting the river 100% heads up on 4flush board)...unfortuanately, i forgot it and will have to look it up in my book...

this is not one of those times...bet the river.

i presume you mean why folding preflop is insane.

I could have the best hand, I could make the best hand, your opponent has very little idea what you hold and can usually be counted on to spew several bets post flop if I do indeed make the best hand, and I feel comfortable folding a lot of second best hands.

I don't think folding preflop is insane. In fact I think it's insane to call. Even if the button is stealing the SB isn't! What range of hands does the SB have that this statement

I could have the best hand

becomes valid?

I'm not sure the type of players you run into day in and day out but if you're suggesting that 9 high is often the best hand then I'd like to play where you play.

He suggested that 79o might be the best hand, which is ludicrous, then suggested he could make the best hand, which is fine. What are you trying to say by changing my statement?

You know what, nevermind.
