Who is gonna win the PokerSuperStars Invitational Sunday? I am gonna pick T.J. because he has been close to winning and has a pretty big stack. Any Other opinions?

If anyone knows the winner, please do not spoil it for those of us who don't want to know. Post in white, with appropriate spoiler warnings; thanks.

I think that Gus will win.

My money's on Gus or Lederer. I'd say Gus is about 4.5:1, and Lederer about 6:1.

I'm pretty sure it's the final event.

I'll go with a weird pick who hasn't done very well in TV poker events.

Chip Reese.

Does anyone know / have a link to the prize payout structure? A cursory glance didn't help me at all, as I'm wondering how they are divvying up the $3.2million.

Are you talking about round one?
Gus won the round one finals.

Are they starting round 2 Sunday?

I am assuming they are doing the same format for round two. Two preliminaries with the starting amounts for the finals being determined by preliminary results.

Too bad they were not real clear on the telecast (or I missed something).

I think the entire thing ends this Sunday @ 4pm EST on NBC-4.

That I think has been the case since the beginning -- all of these events are just to see how much they start with this Sunday in what could be the biggest event ever, given 8 of the top players in the game (I wish they made it 10 and included some combination of Paul Philipps, Phil Hellmuth, John Juanda, Danial Negreanu, Chris Ferguson, or a few other guys).

Should be fierce.

Well, seeing how Fox has dragged this God forsaken event out and squeezed every last bit it could, you'd think that a special showing on the same day as the Superbowl would be the final... However, at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they intro'ed the show with "Welcome to the Poker Superstars invitational, today we begin round 1 of round 3 in our 5 round of 2 series of 11... divided by 5 plus 9."

Anyway, I was going to go with Chip Reese just based on a feeling, but for some reason it seems like he's played this tournament like he just doesn't give a [censored] about it.

I guess I will go with Chan.

You're behind in your TV viewing. Howard won round 2. Sunday is the final.

I'm going for Phil Ivey.

But, I'm pretty sure Howard is going to win.

Thanks for the update. I guess i am watching reruns on cable...

So the winners of each round get 1 million and the winner of the finals gets 1.2?

That can't be accurate as didn't they say a number of times that each person put up $400,000 of their own money? At the very least, 3.2million is being given out and I wouldn't be surprised if Fox tacked on something to the prize pool as they are getting TONS of almost-free programming where they are able to sell not-too-cheap advertising.

The Poker Superstars Invitational this Sunday was a $40K buy in with 750K added. 24 players played down to the final eight for TV. See Mike Sexton's column in this months Card Player Magazine.

This is a different tourny than the one being played on cable for the last few months. That one was eight players putting up 400K. That lineup was J. Chan, Doyle, Chip, Howard, Gus, TJ, Barry G., and Phil Ivey. Gus won round 1, and I'm still waiting for the beginning of round 2.

I guess we'll all be confused with all those superstar tournies these days.

I don't know where I got it into my head that each bought in for $400K -- which is how I got the 3.2M -- but that makes a lot more sense.

Too much poker on TV, I guess.

HERESY!

Thanks for the info, though. They should have more commercials during those episodes to give you time to digest all of this information.

I'm almost positive this is not the one being shown. the one on Super Sunday is the Lederer\Hansen and Co. final round. They each bought in for $400,000, but they were each paid $150,000 so the buy in was $250,000. Most were backed or had partners. I think there are more payouts than just first place.

2005 SuperBowl- From what I could find this is the finals of the 8 player $400K buy-in

2006 SuperBowl- Will be the final of a 24 player 40K buy in with 750K added.

I'd be willing to put money on this if anyone is interested. if I had to pick 3, it's howard, barry and gus. if I had to pick 2, it's howard and gus. if I could only pick one, its gus.

I think people already posted the winner in white text (I didn't highlight). But I'd be willing to take action that it's not Gus.
