I thought about folding preflop-seeing the [censored] storm that followed and knowing that there was a good chance i'd make the money if this hand knocked out/crippled 2 others

but i also thought that all i'd have to do here is dodge a k/a-and if i won it'd put me in great place for a run at 1st

You played fine.

I'm glad you didnt post the result.

here, you want to double up cos of the stack sizes, not just squeak along to the money - and preferably double up vs the BB, so you cripple him. Looked like a great opportunity to do that with one of the best hands going.

Once the BB reraises PF, there is no escape for you. You have to go all the way, right here, right now.

Edit: Yes, the MP bigger stack called the BB raise, but no way can you dump QQ 5h and try and rely on MP outdrawing the BB.

Considering the position that you were in, the hand you were dealt, and the subsequent raises, I'm sure I would have played it the same way, (except I probably would have pushed instead of the t600 raise). Then had buyers remorse afterwards.

In retrospect, you did play it very well, in that you could have folded. Blinds were small enough that a 900 chip stack might have held up to get you ITM. There is no guarantee you get to the money if you fold, btw.

Great question. I'm interested in more responses.

the reason the bet wasn't larger or all in is b/c i had had 3 recent pps and ak-s and no one was calling larger bets- someone else got aces and bet 600 and got action-so i tried the routine to win more than the blinds (not that i'm not happy with the blinds)

You played this perfectly IMO. I like the 4xBB raise better than an immediate push, because you would probably raise the same amount with, for example, AK or AQ or TT. You got plenty of action on the hand. Did you have the best when the money went in? The only way I'd be questioning myself on this hand is if the BB turned over AA or KK.

This should mean that someone is dying to look you up and will with a hand like QJ or AT. I push this preflop.
