Why isn't there a standard set of rules to hold-em. I've been playing hold-em for over a year now (my normal game in the casino is the 2,5 or 5,10 no limit ring) and I have found that the rules the game is played by are different everywhere you go. Don't get me wrong the basic play of the game is the same but rules like who gets the extra chip in a split pot when the pots uneven. Some casinos give it to the person closest to the dealers(button) left some to the highest suit. I have seen players act out of turn and limp into a pot, then the player they skipped raises and they attempt to remove there out of turn call from the pot. Some casinos allow this some don't(my understanding was that once the chips were in the pot they could not be removed).
Also, I belive the casinos do a horrible job with the training of their dealers. If the blackjack dealers ran those games the same way the casino would be broke.
Take both of these factors, toss in a hoard of inexperienced players and it leads to arrguments and fustration (a problem free 8 hr session is rare). Does anyone know why there isn't a set of standard rules or if anyone is working on one? Has anyone else experineced these problems?
