Besides the huge raises how good is this opponent? He called a raise that was 20% of your stack (15 % if you just count the amount on top). He doesn't have implied odds to draw to a set and if he out flopped you o well.

So I am thinking you wanted to get the money in afterwords and betting ~3/4 of the pot on the flop looks like a good way to do that to me.
