Depends on the player. Most of the time this should be a fold.

Fold. A8 doesn't significantly beat very much. Run some steals yourself instead of putting your stack on the line.

I haven't done the math, but I'd think you'd have to put him on a pretty wide range of hands for this to be a call. Do you have a read on him to give you some idea of the hands you could be looking at? I'd be interetested to see what your EV is if he has any pair, any A.

If you are the chip leader 5-handed with a $300 big blind, you never want to lose your chips calling unless you have the stone coldies.

This is one of those situations where your call is negative $EV for both you and the SB, and +$EV for everyone else.

You'd be surprised if I told you what I would fold here.

I think I blunder this one. According to ICM, I need to win 52% to justify the call, against top 25% I am 48% to win, against top 40%, I am 52% to win.

I think that guy is not particularly wild, so maybe I should pass this oppotunity and bully those short stacks. Irieguy makes a good point.

I have been calling alot of sb push lately only to see my K3 donimate his 53, that might blur my vision. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Btw, he has KQs, so actually I am in good shape until Q flops. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think the key here is that your read on the SB is that he is "not particularly aggressive." If that is the case, the range of hands he will be pushing here with a stack that is just slightly lower than yours is not a range you want to be calling with A-8o, especially since you have enough chips to wait and do some bullying yourself. If you read him as "push with any two" maybe you could call, but given your chip stack I think I would save my chips for better situations.
