I saw that there were a few other shortstacks and thought to myself i could bump up at least one more place, but that was only 6k more. A10 on the button to me was a strong holding and there was 72k dead money out there. Even if i dont get called im sittin great to get at least top 4. With the exception of the grinder i thought i could play as well as anyone there. So i decide to commit myself to the hand. I had played with byranbevis since it was down to two tables and twice he was all in with 22 vs K9 and A10 vs AK and won. I know this guy was a loose cannon so i decide to min raise thinkin he will muck if he has trash but if he has two randoms he might try to just call and push on any flop. Which then i was already commited and could pick up his bluff bet, but this also lets him hit some junk. I was willin to take that chance. Instead as you saw he woke up with AQ. Im gone. Very happy yet tough to take. Anyone think A10 should be mucked there?

I saw the hand as it played out in the tourney, and I must admit I wondered what you were thinking at the time.

General advise you'll get from anyone on this board: Final table/8-handed + folded to you on button with AT + you have only 4 BBs + there's almost 2 BBs out there in dead money = easiest push ever

The problem is you're asking about a play that was very read-specific on the BB and no one can answer that but you.

Personally, I'm not inviting him in with a marginal hand hoping to have him fall into some fancy trap. If he's going to play, then he's going to risk doubling me up.

The other major flaw I see with this play is that you are just inviting the SB (who has you both easily covered) along with the minraise.

I'm pushing here unless there's a so-significant-to-me increase in payout between 8th and 7th (which there wasn't) that I'm willing to cross my fingers and hope that Foxy busts out on the following orbit.

I think your play is fine especially with your read on him. You just can't muck AT on the button with your stack size. Your raise there certainly depends on what type of read you think he has on you. If he thinks your tight/aggressive and are making a weak attempt at a steal then its a great play against a LAG who will move in over the top of you with hands much worse than AT. It's just unfortunate that you actually ran into a real hand.

Nice job making the final table though.

i am FoxyPlayer. you probably should have waited until i busted out. let's put it this way, i was very thankful that you did this. also a guy after you did the same thing with AT, got called by AQ, and busted, moving me up another spot.
