I believe it's opening in April. There are posts in this forum which have the exact date.

The tower is built. They're now completing the extra stuff outside and the inside of the tower.

I don't know the street draw. That isn't built.

It doesn't really look special. It's a tall, wide building. The exterior is red (not sure what shade) glass.

Originally, it was called Le Reve and had a French theme. I assume it still has that theme.

In Cigar Aficionado, Steve Wynn said that most Vegas hotels are very glamorous from the outside. He said for Wynn, you will have to go inside to admire the beauty of the resort.
He had mentioned a replica of Angel Falls in Venezuela at the resort.

I don't know if it's going to have a "draw" on the outside. From what I've read, Wynn is going for a really expensive classy place. Comps only for big rollers. But with less comps, they can keep the prices a little lower? You know, I'm going to call them right now.

Ok, I called them for a week in May. They're booked up. No Saturday arrivals. $389 a night for a double bed suite which is all they have left. Who wants a double bed suite?

They are supposed to be building a 7-story high mountain in front of the casino. There is also supposed to be a "lake" in front of the casino (ie Bellagio).

I haven't read anything about Wynn's poker room (hell, I'm not even 100% sure they're going to have one, but I'd assume so), but I'm not sure Vegas can support another mid-stakes room.

The Wynn is enormous. It dwarfs the other hotels in that area of the strip. They've already built a golf course behind it which is visible from the monorail. As of now it looks very nice and not gaudy (something of a rarity around here), hopefully it will stay that way.

The poker room looks promising. They are only hiring dealers with a few years experience.

"I'm not sure Vegas can support another mid-stakes room"

Vegas can't. He'll have to steal most of the Mirage business and like a third of Bellagio.

Danny Negreanu has been hired as their "poker host" according
to his blog. That will generate some business I guess.

Wow a golf course right on the strip? How is there room for that?! Is it a regulation 18 hole course?

That will be a big draw for tourists like me that would like to play maybe one round on a mini four/five day vacation.

Cost sounds like it will be a prohibitive factor, but if they offer a decent poker rate, hmmmmm

That golf course has been there for a long time. It was part of the Desert Inn.

It's not actually on the Strip. It's behind the hotels on the Strip.

You think so? Seems to me like the Bellagio waiting lists can get awfully long, so my gut feel is that the market can in fact support another mid-stakes room. Of course, you also have to factor in the growth rate. We'll see.

It has another mid stakes room now in the Mirage which is not particularly strong. Small waits, a sporadic 40-80 and generally only a few 20-40's even on the weekends.

I haven't seen anything about what limits Wynn Las Vegas plans to spread. They may not have made that decision yet.

If they spread 15-30 and 30-60, we should expect them to take some business from the Bellagio and not do much damage to the Mirage. If they spread 10-20 and 20-40, we should expect them to take more business from the Mirage.
