I am vacationing in Vegas this weekend and am thinking about going to the Bellagio and taking four racks of whites home with me. I have a feeling they may not want me to do it, but can I get away with it?

They pay pennies for them and you're paying $1--they won't care. Bring a fanny pack. If they say anything, just tell them you're going out to eat and want to save the hassle of cashing in and out...

This may be a dumb question, but why are you bringing that many chips home with you?

Home games??

#1-I think a shopping bag would be more appropriate than a fanny pack.

#2-Yeah, I can use them when we play a 4 5 or 6 seat torney. They are cool.

1. I would bet that they pay more for pennies. I'm fairly sure that they do not want you doing this because they are not entirely happy to let these chips go for $1. This is not to say that you cannot do it.

2. That would be a hell of a fanny pack to hold 400 chips.

They almost certainly aren't paying pennies for them. In bulk, probably 50-60 cents?

Aren't there some gaming laws that stipulate that they must have cash reserves to cover the chips they've issued? If so, walking out with a rack of chips would effectively tie that money up.

You'll have no problems doing this. When I have a home game, we always us casino chips. We go to the casino (usually Mirage), buy over $1,000 in chips, and bring them to my place to play with.

I doubt anybody in the casino will even notice what you're doing.

What a horrible waste of $400! You realize how much chips go for on eBay, right?

Chips cost the casino about 14.5 cents each. They will be glad to sell them to you for $1. The Bellagio keeps about 8 million dollars in cash reserve at all times, not counting all the additional cash floating around and in the drop boxes, so they aren't going to notice $200.

Are you talking about authentic Bellagio chips? There is nothing like them as far as im concerned. Unless somebody thinks there are cooler chips in vegas. Besides, I can always redeem them next time I go back.

I think the Bellagio chips are weak. The design just isn't very interesting. I prefer chips from almost any other casino.

My favorites are the slick Commerce chips. I like the way they slide so easily.

You could consider getting chips from several differnet casinos. Let's say you got a rack of white from five different casinos. When you start your home poker games, each player would get chips from a different casino. Then, at the end of the night, you'll know which player you won chips from and who you lost chips to. It could be a goofy way of keeping score.

That would be cool -- you would just have to make sure to put all of the chips that you won that were not your own throughout the night off to the side ... it probably would require everyone to do a higher-than-normal buy-in as you wouldn't be able to use any chips in any pot that weren't your own chips, but it's very doable.

I am sure the Bellagio would prefer it if you took home the green or black ones.

well, I was planning on washing them. I know though, reds are pretty expensive. Maybe I'll swipe some of yours when you arent looking.

I thought I'd mention that most of Vegas' $1 chips are a shade of blue.

I wish I could get 500 of the Commerce $3 chip. My favorite chip by far.

I like the Hustler chips, like the BEllagio chips(I think same style) ans slippery, and they tend to crash all over when you play there.

I find that most of my desire to go play at a casino is satisfied if I just have a few stacks of Paul-son, or in an emergency, Chipco poker chips to fondle.

Maybe I'll bring a few racks home from a casino so I can writhe around in them on my living room floor.

Ugh, cooties! I couldn't do that even if I dunked them all in a listerine/lysol cocktail for a week. It's tough being a germaphobe.

Real chips are great for home games, you are essentially renting them for free. The only downside is someone ripping them off.
