...temperature that is. at what point do i start to worry? i had a minor temp a few weeks ago after avoiding any sort of fever for about 15 years... but my temp was not this high. At what point should i be concerned?

I would say 104 has to be the max-limit before going to the emergency room, but 102 isn't that uncommon for a bad fever, so I wouldn't really be worrying.

342 means really bad things
800 mg of Ibuprofen has always helped me in these situations.

perhaps OOT is not the best place to seek medical advice?

Brain damage happens at 106. At 104 I would get an ice pack and put it on my neck and go to the hospital. 103 is a sign of a potentially dangerous infection.

note that high fevers can also damage your fertility

Fevers aren't always a good indicator of how sick you are. You can have life threatening pneumonia and not have a fever at all.
