Just an FYI for you guys, they just added a few more tables in the room. They now have a total of 18. I was up there yesterday and judging by how many people were on the list/ in the casino I should have waited at least twice as long as I did. I have never seen it that busy there. It was a complete zoo, but the list went fairly quick.

Also, the "rumors" about moving the poker room across the street into the bingo building aren't just rumors. It's pretty much a definite. Nobody is really sure if there needs to be remodeling done, or if more tables still need to be built, etc. So they don't know when it’s going to happen but it will be happening at some point. They're talking about having somewhere around 40 tables….so they may actually be able to spread Omaha and more than 1 stud table! /images/graemlins/grin.gif Just wanted to let you guys know!

Excellent news, I like to make it down there every once and a while. My brother is a table game dealer there, I will ask him to confirm when the move and expansion is going to take place.

I just got back from there today acutally. They are running about 4 tables of 3/6, 2 of 6/12, and 2 of 10/20. I waited about 45 minutes for 6/12 when I went. I would definately like to see the poker room move over to the complex. Hopefully they will add some NL500 tables. Camps14, were you up there last night or today?

I was playing 3/6. I was at table 7....which is now the first one on the left when you walk in. 20ish looking female. Do you play there often? what limits?

Last night/today was my first time up. I played on the 3/6 in the far back left corner for about a half hour. Then I played 6/12 for the rest of the time. I'll mainly be playing 6/12 or 10/20 up there. Are you a regular there? I'm a 20ish looking guy.

Western Michigan related - I went to Little River casino in Manistee on Saturday. They had 4 tables of 4/8, and one table of capped buy-in 1/2 NL. The room is in a little corner, and isn't particularly nice. What is the nice is the quality of the opponents. I couldn't imagine a softer game (I played 4/8). Guy on my right played 95% of his hands (flopped a full house when the flop came 227 - yes he had 27o - this was ITG as well, and I raised after him). Guy on my left played any two suited, and would chase down backdoor flush draws with impunity. The rest of the table was no better.

You can call ahead to be put on the list as well.

A few questions gvibes

1) Where exactly is this casino (I'm not sure where Manistee is)?
2) Is 4/8 the highest limit there?
3) Is the age 18 or 21?

To answer some of your questions Jonny, I overheard some players talking about it last weekend while I was waiting for a table, then this weekend I asked one of the dealers about it. He told me that they haven't given the dealers a lot of details about it, just that it was going to be moved into the bingo building, it was going to have around 40 tables, and that it will be happening. I asked if they had any time frame given to them (1 month, 1 year, etc.) and the dealer had no idea. I would assume they would start spreading some NL tables but, that's just my assumption. I am definitely in favor of the expansion but the downfall is that the hotel and all the restraunts are going be across the street now, so that's kind of a bummer. I just hope they can spread some more games, like omaha, NLHE, and most importantly any stud higher than 3/6 /images/graemlins/grin.gif. Also some more tourneys would be nice. As far as me being a regular...well now that school has started again I can only get up there once or twice a week. I'm usually there one week day and then either fri or sat night. I used to be there 4 or 5 nights...I miss that. So I'm a semi-regular. All the dealers know me if that counts for anything /images/graemlins/wink.gif PM me next time you're heading that way. I'll be there this Friday for sure, and possibly Sat.

And gvibes, I am also interested in this cardroom. Those questions that Jonny had sound like the same ones I had. Also I've heard that the have some decent tourneys going on during the week there. Do you by any chance have any details regarding those?! Thanks for all the info guys!

website is http://www.littlerivercasinos.com/

1) Not really sure. It's definitely in the middle of nowhere. It seems to be a little north of Ludington, near the lake. It doesn't seem too far south of Traverse (1.5 hours?). Basically, just near the lake, somewhere in no man's land between Grand Rapids and Traverse City.

2) It was the highest limit when I was there. I'm not sure if they ever spread higher limits. Someone was saying that there are nights where the lowest limit they spread is 6/12, and that there is a 10/20. I can't confirm.

3) They were stamping people 21, so I would guess that they were letting people under 21 in. I'm not sure if the sub 21's are allowed to play the games. Give them a call. And they were carding REALLY strictly.

tournaments - rules posted at http://www.littlerivercasinos.com/pokerrules.htm - looks like a limit/NL bastard type thing. 1 in the afternoon on Mondays and Tuesdays. Doesn't look particularly appealing to me, but I don't play tournaments. They may have other tournaments on occasion, as I believe players were referring to a tournament that had occurred earlier in day on Saturday.

Does Soaring Eagle still allow smoking in the cardroom? I was last there a few years ago and the smoke was intense.

Have you seen any Omaha 8/better dealt on a regular basis?
-At what limits?

Thanks for the info gvibes! I'm going to give them a call about the age thing before I make any plans.

And pokerswami - yes they do still allow smoking. And I have seen an O8 table going twice while i have been up there, and it was 3/6. There's usually enough people on a list for one table, but with such a high demand for 3/6 HE they don't want to take a table away from that for Omaha. Hopefully in the new cardroom.

Camps,

The cardroom up in Manistee is pretty basic. They have five tables, and all I have ever seen spread is 4-8 hold'em. They often have a list for 6-12 or 1-2 NL but I've never seen it spread.

The players are typical loose up north gamblers. In fact, I've never sat in on a softer 4-8 game in my life. The place can be a gold mine if your big hands hold up but for the most part you can forget about bluffing and such. Most of them are there to gamble. They have pictures on the wall of all their tourney winners, if you go up on a weekend you will probably see a couple of the regulars there. You will recognize their pictures.

If you go, prepare to be unimpressed. The dealers are unknowledgeable, and there is a typical up north feel to the place and with the people that play there. You'll run into a few people from GR there (that's where I am from), as it's not much farther to go there than it is SE.

There's no real easy way to get there. From the west shoot up 31 to Ludington, then follow the signs along 31 to Manistee. From the East going up 131 to Cadillac then going west on 55 is the easiest way, but cumbersome. The casino itself is actually about 4 miles north of Manistee. Out in the middle of BFE to be exact.
