Sweet high-speed dirtbike race, with some huge air.

One thing I'd like to see that I haven't yet...

The beer. SBC (formerly PacBell) Park has a very nice variety of concessions.

Hell yeah. I had a friend that was all in to dirt bikes. Went to a couple motocross races with him. Those things f*cking kick ass. It was when I lived in SoCal, so we would go to Glen Helen near Riverside. We would camp out there the night before. Wake up at the butt crack of dawn, start chugging beers, and live the whole day wasted.

Man I'm jealous. I used to ride dirtbikes in fields, construction sites, etc. But I've never been to a supercross. Maybe it's about time I changed that.

The track reminds me of that old arcade game with the steering wheel and nitrous button, forgot what it was called but it was pretty fun back in the day.

I've been to this twice - once in Middle School and once after High School. Both times I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Genuinely good entertainment.

In the future, many of your "What is that?" questions are solvable here. (http://www.google.com/)

At some point my curiosity will get the better of me and I'll head over to Google to find out the logistics of getting that much dirt in/out of the stadium. I mean, that's a lot of dirt.

That is more than a lot of dirt. That's insane. Maybe after they're done they could just dump it into the Cove and finish off the ruining of Pac Bell Park.

I used to love going to these as a kid. I also went to many monster truck rallys. Grave Digger used to make a habit of crashing at Jack Murphy Staduim (old school! yeee).

Here's how this went down for me:

Midweek, call from buddy "Hey, Diablo, the supercross is at Pac Bell Park (few of us remember it's now SBC) this weekend. We should go! It will rule!" "Uh, OK" He sends me a ticketmaster link that says 7pm. Only crappy $30 seats left, so we decide to scalp.

Saturday just before 5:30pm, frantic call from buddy "Diablo, I've been trying to call you. There has been an announcer at the stadium (we both live a block or two away) and tons of Mexicans and dudes w/ mullets running around all over the place all day. I think this stuff has been going on all day!" So, I check the web and see the 12:30/7pm thing. Uh, oh. We wonder if maybe 7pm is just the time for the final race or something.

We contemplate blowing it off 'cuz maybe we missed most of it, but then decide to give it a try. So, not knowing what's going on, we head to the show and find they still have great seats available for $50.

Time, 5:30. Note the time.

We go inside and find the following info

12:30-5:30 - practice and qualifying. You can sit wherever you want for this, general admission.

5:30-7 - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AS THEY HAVE BULLDOZERS FIXING UP THE TRACK AND SOME STUPID INTERVIEWS AND COMMENTARY ON THE BIGSCREEN.

7-7:20 or so - crazy laser light show, intros, fireworks, all sorts of craziness.

7:30-10:30 or so - 10 races (125 3 prelims, finals) (250 5 prelims, finals). There was also a cool race w/ 7-year olds during one of the breaks.

Luckily for us, we were in the club level and could go inside and drink at the bar. Tix were in/out, so you could go for the early stuff then leave and come back if you want.

I went to a Monster Car rally because I won tickets off the raidio when I was 8. I think there were some dirt bikes, but I was completely disspointed and wished I had just scalped the tix. I wonder how much better supercross is?

Side note: I feel like these events are more "atmosphere" (drinking with your buddies, eating, making jokes about rednecks and mullets, watching for crashes, getting wasted) than actual sports entertainment. I would probably enjoy monstertrucks more nowadays.
