View Full Version : Does this live SNG structure make it a crapshoot?

Played this the other night because the wait was too long for everything.

10 players, buyin $135.00

#1 pays $565
#2 pays $339
#3 pays $226

1500 chips to start, blinds are 50/100 and double every 15 minutes.

I found out about the blinds after getting into the game and they seemed pretty steep. By the time I got any remotely playable hands, a 3x BB raise was too high even for the chip leader to call.

Placed 4th. Wondering if the blind structure makes it -EV despite the poor players. Thoughts?

Thanks.

My biggest concern is the $22 per player vig that they are charging. If the vig was 13.50 and they started the blinds at 25/50, then I would consider playing. You would be better off playing on line IMHO

Yeah, starting with 15BB instead of 67 (at a party $100) and paying $22 instead of $9. You would have to have pretty weak competition to have +EV with that fee and a 10/15 starting blinds. I wouldn't think this game would be +EV for anyone but the house. I assume the house is a casino, because the only 'fee' I pay at a home game is bringing beer.

Playing at the Hard Rock? Aren't those fees CRAZY???

If this is the Hard Rock you're talking about, you can make more money playing straight 2 hold'em in 6 hours than playing one of those crackhead tourneys...
