Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

UTG+1 (t593)
MP1 (t702)
Hero (t765)
MP3 (t1015)
CO (t835)
Button (t308)
SB (t647)
BB (t1345)
UTG (t1790)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A/images/graemlins/heart.gif, Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to t593 (All-In), 4 folds, Button calls t308 (All-In), 2 folds.

Villain has been shown to be a manic, making large bets all the time, all over the place. On draws, on nothing, with the nuts.

Here, he's betting 600 chips with the blinds at t30. Of premium hands, I'm only ahead of AJ, AT. I'm behind any pair, any higher A. There's 5 to act behind me.

Easy fold; even if you were closing the action you'd need some kind of amazing read to call.

What?!?

I'm only calling here if he shows me A2-AJ before my decision. With anything else, AK, AA-QQ could be positionally behind me a decent portion of the time to not even make this a 50/50 shot (and considering it's probably fairly likely he has a pp, I dont' know why'd u want to get ur $ in as a dog). I understand wanting to take a maniac fishies chips before he busts buuuut calling here seems to be just awful.

Oh, also, I thought using the term 'laying down' could only be done when holding a strong hand?? AQo here is not strong at all. It's certainly above average, but it'll take a lot more than that to save it from the muck.

looks like I'm just peeved that manic showed J5o, and gets called by the button with A9o, and no one hits.

As a rule of thumb, if you have to ask "Should I fold this <Insert medium-strong hand here>" then you should fold it.

Q-2 is a 57% favorite against 3-4.

This type of thinking is the mark of a fish, Bigred. Fix it quick. It doesn't matter how many hands a "maniac" plays, A-Q is still not a calling hand for all of your chips in middle position, level 1.

You're never as far ahead as you think. As soon as you understand that, you understand SNGs.

[/ QUOTE ]But a 59% favourite against J5. What can we learn from this? That no one gets adjusted rounders quotes. /images/graemlins/frown.gif
