At a ceremony dedicated to remembering the liberation of the Auschwitz camp, VP Cheney was there to shovel the driveway and then do some ice fishing (apparently)

I know...it's a stupid thing to harp on, but come on what was he thinking?

I guess he was thinking something along the lines of:

"Dammit, its cold out here."

You're right, it is a pretty stupid thing to harp on. Actually, I'm not even entirelt sure what it is you're harping on, since everyone else there is bundled up in their own way.

He was hoping that the clothes would distract everyone from the irony of this statement in his speech:

"The story of the camps reminds us that evil is real, and must be called by its name, and must be confronted. We are reminded that anti-Semitism may begin with words, but rarely stops with words, and the message of intolerance and hatred must be opposed before it turns into acts of horror."

He's from Wyoming, what'd you expect? And he's not running for anything after this gig, so who cares what people think about his clothing?

Oh come on! You can see snowflakes in the picture and you wonder why he was wearing a warm coat and a knit hat? I've got to admit that the Russian style fur hats look nicer, but maybe he didn't want to look like a Russsian, and get all the PETA crowd riled up, too.

Lets face it, Dick Cheney's winter outfit will hamper his ability to score with those European chicks. A cool Rusky hat will definately increase his scoring chances....

But....maybe Mrs Cheney is doing her wifely duties well and therefore doesn't care about that.

Just goes to show you that the world press only cares about attacking the Bush Administration. They ignore all the countries that disrespect the genocide by not showing up.

Quite to the contrary most middle eastern states celebrate the holocaust.

I think in Egypt they celebrate Hitlers birthday in the major Cairo papers every year.

What more would you expect?? Those that want to kill Jews now have alot in common with those that that wanted to kill Jews then.

Remember the grand mufti of Jerusalem met with nazis to formulate how the final solution could best be undertaken in Palestine.

You guys still think a one-state solution is a good idea???

I wouldn't say that the staff of CNN are of "small minds"... Or that this is a "small thing." First of all, he is representing a country, not just himself. And if he could brave the temperatures of his own inaguration, why not this remembrance ceremony?

Although I respect that you defend the people you follow.

This is a very poor post. It's snowing so he wraps up and you abuse him for it. Er, why?

I agree and FWIW he's also got a heart condition. He needs to dress warmly as cold weather can cause his heart arteries to constrict. The responses in this thread are telling as is CNN even publishing this story that is obviously a one sided article. If anyone wants to debate the fact that people with heart conditions have to take extra care to dress warmly I'd be more than happy to do so.

My God. He is dressed like a Minnesotan. He could be any one of my neighbors with that sweeeet parka.

What does it have to do with left wing? How many times did the "left wing media" criticize Bill Clinton for his "wee little" jogging shorts or for Al Gore looking like a dork in Dockers?

"How many times did the "left wing media" criticize Bill Clinton for his "wee little" jogging shorts"
***Answer: ZERO
I saw footage showing Clinton jogging several times on the nightly news. On the networks, that *I* watched they NEVER made a comment on his jogging shorts.

"Al Gore looking like a dork in Dockers"
***Answer: ZERO
Again I've seen Al Gore wear his Dockers several times on TV and I never heard them make disparaging comments about his pants.

But perhaps you consider Joan and Melissa Rivers to be members of the media /images/graemlins/smile.gif

He looks like an undignified buffoon. That's what's wrong. It would be like if he showed up in a blaze orange outfit because that was the only warm outfit he had.

You're retarded.

Clearly you can't get over the fact that your liberal buddies have lost two presidential elections in a row, and are just looking for any way to attack the Bush Administration It's friggin' snowing and you're worried about what he's wearing. Would you rather he catch pneumonia or have something go wrong with his heart? Oh wait, I bet you would...

Do everyone a favor and never post again. Clearly you lack any level of intelligence to post reasonably.

This is what mattered at the ceremony. Here's what Cheney wrote in the Memorial Book:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/01/images/20050128-2_tour4-wg8o2672-515h.jpg
"On this anniversary of liberation, we look back with reverence and resolve: May God bless the survivors and the souls of the lost, and may the evils committed here never again darken our world."

And here you can find his Remarks. (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/01/20050127-6.html)
