I say go ahead and raise the flop. Then lead the turn and go from there.

This line is OK.

An alternative would be to call the flop and raise the turn with the intention of folding to a 3-bet. You could get him to fold overcard hands that contain TJQK. If he calls your raise, plan on checking behind on the river. If he leads the river, fold.
