View Full Version : How to adjust to playing against a maniac?

My read is that UTG is absolutely insane. >80% VPIP and >20% PFR after almost 100 hands. This is not a bad beat post, I was just plain outplayed all night by him. What's a good strategy for a sLA-A with an overpair against a maniac that could be holding any 2 cards? I'm thinking that on this hand a bigger bet pre-flop or a check on the turn could have possibly helped me get out of this hand. But honestly who knows? I had him pegged to a small connector that caught a peice of the flop (T9) or an Ace rag that caught a peice (A9) but I guess I was thinking too rationally. He of course lost all his money later (to somebody besides me), but I can't shake the feeling that I was playing against him all wrong and I cost myself a peice of his stash. Working off this bonus has been brutal.

the raise less means raise less often, not raise less money.

and whatever you do, don't try to move them off a hand.

Unavoidable, but raise to $2 - $3 if you do raise pre-flop.
