It seems that many posters are familiar with the local flavor on display here, but I feel like I just arrived on the Island of Dr. Moreau ("What Is The Law?").

Never seen so much irrational anger, neurotic insistence on giving the deck a big wash (at least 5 players asked for a it throughout the course of the first tourney), and the necessity for so many rules designed to regulate personality. I understand that one of the underlying personality traits that unifies compuslive gamblers is immaturity, but this is a new high/low.

I'm surprised by how confrontational everyone is, how absurd and ridiculous the hatred towards the dealers is (as though they have any control over the outcome of a given hand) and how many players seem ready, willing and able to come into the poker room with an automatic weapon and unload.

That said, I like it here. The tournaments are well run, the free food in the poker room is clutch, and the conversation at the tables is a lot more lively and interesting than what I've come to expect from my time in East Coast poker rooms....On the whole, it's a rather more diverse poker environment than what I'm used to.

By way of comparison, at Foxwoods, pretty much all anyone can talk about is 1) The Red Sox and 2) bad beats. Out here, at least there's always a high-speed pursuit or gruesome crime to discuss.

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but it's the exact opposite of East Coast poker.

I observed the same thing shaniac. It's poker heaven, ain't it? Good luck in the tourneys.

Commerce has better action because everyone at the table truly hates everyone else. There's no bs of mentioning "nice hand", it's much more viscious.

It's kinda outta my way compared to other clubs but I should go there much more often considering how good the action is.

Enjoy the diversity while you can. After playing for a week you won't notice it!

Talk to me after you've played 3 hrs. next to a guy who literally has black teeth and insists on talking face to face with you in a language not of this earth. It's obvious he hasn't brushed his teeth in this millenium. You can see actualy chunks of decomposed foot between his beaver-esque teeth. Every word that escapes his mouth is accompanied by a gut wrenching vomit enducing twist in my stomach. Other than that enjoy!!
